AIMING FOR THE STARS

2009/3/1 (Sunday) | Filed under: Hotel

“Stars” or “number of stars” have been used for ranking or grading especially of hotels, restaurants or any other edifice that provides luxury and shelter. Attributing a hotel to a number of star ratings is merely based on independent evaluation and is not regulated by any international standards. Earlier, 5 stars was the most prestigious level that a hotel could obtain, although over the past few years this has increased to 6 and 7 stars as well. Some people view this as only a technique to create a USP and improve sales. Currently only three hotels claim to hold a 7star status, The Burl Al Arab in Dubai, and one each in Bangkok and Italy.
